Friday Week

Each Friday, the Office of Public Affairs and Communications posts a review of the preceding week. The reviews include a summary of events and news that took place as the University responds to the coronavirus pandemic.

    For months the impenetrable reality was the coronavirus.  It dominated the news, the way people lived and died, and expectations for the future.  Then George Floyd was killed and attention turned to a tragedy far older than COVID-19.

    This has been a momentous week for Notre Dame beginning with an online degree conferral ceremony at which Father Jenkins, Dr. Burish, the deans of our schools and colleges, and John J. Brennan, chair of the Notre Dame Board of Trustees, presided.

    The Notre Dame community was, in many respects, focused this week on this coming Sunday when the Class of 2020 will participate in a diploma conferral ceremony conducted virtually because of the coronavirus pandemic.
